The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), as part of the 2019 IPPS Final Rule, encouraged hospitals to make available online a listing of standard hospital charges commonly known as the Charge Description Master (CDM). OakBend Medical Center supports the intent of the regulations to provide patient-friendly information about your potential out-of-pocket costs. Standard charges are the same for all patients, regardless of their ability to pay or their insurance coverage. Standard charges may not be the actual reimbursement for service.
Patients may not find the CDM helpful because it is a list of itemized charges that use specific technical language and medical descriptions. For this reason, OakBend Medical Center created the Price Estimation Tool to assist our patients.
